Hello, I listened to your podcast and the question about wetsuit vs speedsuit vs kit and here are my results from my un-scientific study.
First I swam in my speedsuit and then my wetsuit, I believe two laps of the union res buoys in each, trying to exert the same amount of effort for each trial and here is what I got: Speed suit- 1:56/100 m. Sleeveless wetsuit- 1:38/100m. That's more than a 9 min difference over 2.4 mi. Also in 2015 I swam IMB Boulder in 1:24 in my kit (way slower than expected) and 2015 imaz in 1:10 in a wetsuit (what I estimated I should be able to do on any day) and my swimming did not improve between those 2 races as I started swimming competitively 36 years ago.
